Patience is a Virtue
Thank you for taking the time to be interested in our Patience is a Virtue campaign. Yes, it’s very annoying to have to wait for someone driving in front of you who’s a bit slow, a bit lost, not as good a driver as you, keeps letting people in and so on. But just imagine if you had something wrong with you that doctor’s just don’t know enough about, and even worse, can’t cure.
This is what the people ALD Life support face day after day in the most devastating circumstances. Imagine you have a beautiful young boy – one minute he’s as normal as the next child, the next he’s having inexplicable tantrums, can’t find things that are right in front of him, can’t walk in a straight line and can’t understand the simplest of sentences. Then, on top of all this confusion, you get a diagnosis that doctors say will never get better, there is no cure and there is no hope.
This is what real patience is – having the hope, courage and assertion to wait for science to catch up and to believe that your boy will be the one who can stay the course until it does. Patience is what our families have in abundance – not because it’s a virtue but because they have no choice.
So, again, thank you for taking the time to read our little campaign. If you’d like to help us try to speed up the wait to understand what ALD is and how to stop it please take a look around our website and do what you can.
